Wahoo! Yes, it was rolling out there at the spit! Saw lots of windsurfer crash. Poor buggers..... If they would only join the dark side.
Bummer if you missed it!

Yes, total blaster at the hatch and white salmon today. Mega swell at some moments at the hatch. Over head rollers, smooth large faces and lots of "waves" crashing. Retrieved a twintip for a wayward kliter who lost track of the board in the large chop and swell. Great day, overpowered on my 7.

Overpowered on a de-powered 6m Switchblade. My kite strings sounded like humming bird wings. The Hatchery basement had some real monsters rolling through 9'+. Kiters and windsurfers completely disapearing into the troughs. A crazy crazy fun day...
The sea was angry that day my friends...

It was combat indeed - I was windsurfing above the hatch at the most extreme point (12-2 pm) and didn't see a single kiter anywhere around, for the first time in a long time. I've been impressed at how expert kiters (and the gear) have stepped it up over the last couple of years, but I guess there are still limits.

Well, I was there as a kiter and I can attest that there were not many of us. Or sailors for that matter. It was the kind of day that really thins out the feild. We were there but he kites were small enough to be mistaken for sails. It was a great day!! Shots take from my helmet cam.

I picked a good week to take a vacation in the Gorge. Came down from Seattle and got some great riding in at Rufus and WS bridge. Nice change of pace riding midweek vs normal weekend zoo at event site. Head high rollers and lit 6m on the surf board make for a memorable day. Only 5 shredders making the rotation at any given time. Thanks for sharing boys and girls.
