SI forecast looks just about promising today. I'm going to head out there with my girl and teach her some dry-land basics and fly a trainer. Maybe if the wind picks up enough I can get a quick session in. Anybody else gonna make it out? I hope to be there sometime shortly after 5.

Hmm....I'm thinking not so much. Wind forecast is very questionable, and the tide will be coming in at a pretty good rate. But hey, it's better to have tried and lost then to not have tried at all, right? Post some pictures if you gut up and riding.

I haven't gone to the island yet but I'm guessing there is about 2 feet of beach, and lots of fishermen. I'll see if I can snap some pics when I'm there.

At this water level the tide will have next to no effect on the current at SI...

High water + Fishermen = whole shit-ton of fun... specially when you are bombing your trainer into their rigs.

Haha yeah. If possible we will try to walk to a part of the beach with very few/no fishermen.

Okay, so here's da skinny on da Sauvie kitebeach.

Friday saw about 20 feet of beach, from dike to water, all of which was filled with peeps, debris, and a lot of fishermen. The nudie and gay beach was flooded (or so I overheard) so everyone flocked to the only sand available Sad No nudies showed themselves, and you didn't want to drop the soap Wink

The wind picked up a couple of times, but with so little beach and so many people, hot launching was very possible, but not very wise.

As per Nak and my bud Steve, with the water so high, tides don't really make a diff.

I think I'll wait for the water and fisherdudes to recede before I head out there again.

Does that draw a good picture of the S.I. sitchy?

bty Youkai, your girlfriend is adorable Smile

Haha thanks Blokt, I think so Smile

Here's a picture of how much beach there is. Definitely seems like you couldn't possibly launch with an onshore wind. If it's slightly offshore you might be able to drift launch it if you could find an area without people but good luck.

I think that's the first time I ever saw my kite in a picture! No wonder the Munkster wants one just like it Wink.

Man, look how the wind was whipping up the sand and water!
