Sun May 08, 11 7:20 am Copper Wire Theft near The Dalles, report it if you see |
|
|
Yesterday while getting ready to go out in The Dalles I was approached by a Union Pacific Special Agent. This Special Agent was investigating some wire theft along the Oregon side of the river, Union Pacific Railroad.
He asked me, us, to keep an eye out for unusual vehicles or activities like Tweakers cutting down telephone wires, rolling it up and hauling it off. I'm assuming that it's not a kiteboarder, LOL. I told him of the local homeless dudes that frequent the area during warm months. In addition, I told him that I would post this and tell everyone to keep the eyes open.
So, if you see some weird activity on the Oregon side, a metal truck, or odd looking tweakers doing high wire work then report the activity on the Oregon side of the river call:
UPC Police Department.

This stuff is happening everywhere. Up here in Tacoma, a bridge I work on sustained roughly $300,000 in theft damage for maybe $100 worth of meth. The wiring on this bridge dates back to 1918 and was still very functional... now this bridge is permanently stuck in the open position for ship traffic. We've lost whole stretches of freeway lighting to the same thieves in Tacoma.

They tried to saw apart a ships bell (bronze) that was recovered from a WWII destroyer that was torpedoed and went down with many many lives. It was mounted in a local park here for veterans. I used to see old guys crying by that bell for their lost buddies. Fortunately, the bell is now permanently locked in with rebar & concrete _________________ CGKA Member

Amazing how the market changes - in 2001 I was working at an electrical company for a summer job. We needed to clean out the warehouse & I took in about 900 lbs and they gave me $30 for it - that was mostly because of some big aluminum stuff in there. |

Mon May 16, 11 9:59 am This morning I saw something odd... |
|
|
On my way to work I saw this guy on a mountain bike ,with a trailer in tow, heading east on westbound 84. This guy looks like Santa Clause minus 200lbs. He seemed to be laboring a bit to get his bike trailer moving up the hill.
Normally this dude collects cans, but I saw nothing in his trailer. Make me wonder.....
I called it in, _________________ Hey, I'm being hahahahahrassed! |
