| any general feedback on this kite. Specifically unhooked and how the suicide with safety option works on this bar. How much depower does this option give when you f up??? |

The lithiums are sweet kites!! Huge wind range, total depower so when you mess up just let go of the bar and the kite will slowly fall from the sky and land ready to be relaunched. I can relaunch my 12m in winds of of 12 mph. That is the very bottom of its scale. 11 mph wind no luck. I taught on Airush all last year and its a great kite. light bar pressure, big air and hangtime, awsome low end grunt so its fun in the surf. The kite loops are a bit slow and too powerful for my style of riding and tricks, but the stability makes alot of other tricks easier. I always know where the kite is in the air.
I haven't spent much time unhooked on it so I can't really give an opinion about that. is super easy to relaunch and hot launch if needs be. Lithiums are great kites and a great freeride. If your going for alot of unhooked riding and tricks look at the ONE kite or Varial but if your just playing around alittle with unhooked the lithium is a great choice.

Hey,
The Lithium does sit back a bit in the window, so for unhooked wake style tricks it would not be my first choice, although it does just fine in comparison to other brands kites that they label freestyle or "does it all kites" My first choice in the Airush range (brand affiliated - btw) for unhooking for wakestyle tricks would be the Razor or Vapor X. Unhooked down the line wave riding is another story and it fits this application well. Great all-around freeride kite and great jumper.
The Suicide with safety works as do all the others I know of which is by feeding the ring that you clip your leash onto the sheeting loop and then re- assembling the QR. You are connected Suicide (the Lithium has a lot of sheeting depower range-60-70%??) and then at full flag out 100% depower off the V3 Bridle should you need to ping the release.

Umm, usually sitting back in the window means the kite is more grunty and you can load and pop better against it, which makes it better for wakestyle. If it sits too far to the edge (high aspect) you'll lose power too easily trying to load against it and have a disappointing pop.

Yeah I see your point. I was referring to being able to pass the bar, not just get pop or get lift from the kite.
Most C-kites have a shallow profile that allows the kite to fly forward to the edge of the window more easily when you load and pop giving the rider that moment of slack making passes especially inverted, more comfortable. I'm sure it depends on your preference and the type of wake style tricks you are doing. I'm guess that the Lithium would be a good choice for that then- especially in the up and down winds of the Gorge. |
