I'm heading to Mui Ne next week and trying to figure out what to bring with me. I weigh 170 pounds and have 7m, 9m, and 12m SwitchBlades and I've got a 145 model 3. If anyone has any advice on the following, I'd greatly appreciate it:
+ I'd rather not cart my board down there - will there be decent rentals?
+ I want to bring only 2 kites - should I bring the 7m and the 9m or the 9m and the 12m? (the SBs are pretty rangey)
+ What's the wind season been like this year? What's the wind season usually like for middle of March?
Thanks for the advice!

I would bring the 9 and 12. there are plenty of board rental options available. That all said, i think mui ne beach proper is the worst place i have ever kited by FAR. Do yourself a favor and go to the Nomad Kite Camp which is just past the town or Mui Ne.
Rent a scooter $7 to$10 a day and head out of the beach strip toward the town of Mui Ne. Go straight through the one traffic light in town and bear left around the rotary which is about .5 miles past the traffic light. Follow that road and you will hit a light just outside of town. Head straight and kite camp is just up on the left (you wont miss it). You do not need to go to the camp, but it offers a safe place to park, launch and lunch. There are numerous places to kite in this area. There di not seem to be any fishing nets in the area by kite camp, but we ran into a ton just north of there.
Mui Ne beach has voo doo chop and really is not much fun at all, the spots on the other side of Mui Ne (town) have fun waves, more wind, and big sections of flat water between sets.
I think this has been a very strange unpredictable year for wind there and has been lighter than usual.
The area is amazing and don't be afraid to go off the beaten path. If you have not been, take time to check out phan thiet. Take a scooter in the am and go to the market.
If you need local kite advice try to find Mr Lee. He has a kite school on the beach in front of the Suoi Tien Resort (smaller hotel just past the Saigon Mui Ne on the main strip). He speaks English very well and is extremely helpful. Rents Ocean Rodeo stuff I think.

Looks like a very cool place to visit. Love that the cows have good kite etiquette!

lol, reminds me of kiting Eluthera in the Bahamas and having a herd of horses come by w/ a few stopping to swim and enjoy the shore break.
