So of course on the eve of departure, people are dropping like flies. Moto Jeff (is it battery Jeff now?) talked to some people on the ground in ID and they were saying that a cold front that is going to descend on the prairie this weekend is going to pretty much shut down the wind of sat and sunday.

So Jeff and Gang have pulled the plug. I'm currently in the hand wringing phase in terms of wheather or not to make the journey.

Any other people with intimate knowledge of what conditions will be like?

Let me give you my opinion,
I've been here for just about a month now, and i've been riding 4-5 days a week. no joke. The camas has been so f'n good lately I can't belive that people would bail out! just because the event site may or may not blow, does'nt mean the rest of the camas is the same way.

-just my two cents,

-also the soldier mtn ski resort is pretty dam cheap for lift tickets.

The only guarantee you'll get is that if you don't pull the trigger and go--that it will BLOW like STINK all weekend. Can't argue with ole Murphy!

It is going to be off the hook.
Wind forecast for the weekend just keeps getting better. There is lots of fresh snow on the ground and you are going to find ridable conditions some where in the area every day.
Plus we are going to party. Bring your green hat.

It seems like its almost always windy, and if its not you can hit the mountain. Had a great mountain day last trip, the other 3 days were all windy.

The bigger concern for me would be fresh snow, and that doesn't sound like its going to be an issue for the coming weekend Thumb's Up

Yo Phil, I heard that you guys basically got one good day of riding in out of three?

Siggh, if it wasn't 8 hours away I would so be on it. Mt. Bachelor just seems more and more like a better idea.

Chooch already texted me a photo of tampax and called me a pussy so at least that I got that out of the way. Smile

Day 1: nice dry snow, light wind that lasted around 2 hrs

Day 2: strong wind and lots of new snow, them started to get REAL windy and whiteout so we quit early

Day 3: sunny, no fresh snow but plenty of powder wind drifts, 10m all day

Day 4: bluebird at soldier Mtn with fresh powder lines to be found

Haven't you learned not to travel for kiting? If you have a backup plan, you'll have fun no matter what.

Yer pretty much a screwed monkey now, so don't worry about not going.

If you go and there is no wind, then everyone ends up beating the shit out of you because you hexed the whole event, but if you don't go, then it is guaranteed to snow and blow, and you end up with your consolation prize of hitting Bachelor.
Then maybe a few people will cherish your sacrifice and tell long stories of your valiant forum crusades.

Believe me, karma is a bitch. Claimed it on facebook this past Monday that I was gonna be killing it in the pow pow this week, and less than 5 hours later I am flat on my side with the stomach flu for 2 days straight.
