Hi... I fly FS for light winds,....PL's for medium,......And wondered what tube...that is brand, model and size kite is very calm and stable (DONT want a fast turner in stormy conditions as easy to dunk a twitchy kite) and fast water relaunch for nasty gusty 25-40 mph for my 200# on a surfboard....Figured this Forum was best place to ask?...Heard Gorge gets cranky... and i Know the Oregon Coast sure does as i almost went out in a October gale between Seaside and Columbia River on a 8 m Vortex Peter Lynn but didnt as i wasnt as learned as now(8m Pl is equal to about 5 m tube) ......Albatross Mark

I can't decipher what the question is here. Somebody's got a bad case of the "unknown abbreviations".

FS stands for Flysurfers,Air Ram Foils which are same or more powerful than tubes ....BUT PL's (Peter Lynn) Air Ram Foils are less powerful so an 8m Vortex Peter Lynn pulls the same as a 5m Tube........My question is: What Are 200 pound guys riding when its "Nukin" Crazy at the Gorge??..........Not all models work well in those conditions when a tame slow turning kite is much better than a fast turner that you have to watch so much you cant take your eyes and attention off to enjoy your boarding.......Albatross Mark

I second the Delta shape. Most companies have Delta shapes now. The Inventor of the Delta is F-one with the bandit, but the airush lithium and epic renegade are awsome delta choices as well. You really can't go wrong with any new kites. I think slingshot even has attempted a delta this year.

Very stable and predictable kites with great wind range for gusts and lulls.

I've never kited a the Gorge, but have kited a fair amount in nuking gusty conditions. I flew a 6M Switchblade, which I loved, but that got stolen out of my vehicle on my last trip to Baja, so now I have a 2011 6M Rebel, that I am sure will perform equally well.

I'm 185-190 depending on the last time I took a crap, and ride directionals 99% of the time, usually a 6'1" in the light stuff, then down to a 5'9", or a 5'5".
