It would be a good idea to get snow tires and/or chains.

Don't forget to stop by Powder Mountain in Utah. It's about an hour from Salt Lake. 5,500 acres of really nice terrain for some gravity fed board/ski action as well as North Americas only dedicated snow kite area, right at the resort.

Reed Brady came out this week for some action. Some of his first snow kite sessions. He killed it. We hit the lifts in the morning and scored some sweet Utah powder, had lunch, then kited all afternoon.

Wow Thanx, I didn't realize Powder MT. Had dedicated snowkite area.
I was just gonna hang around Park Cityish & Skyline.
I've got chains, Snowtires, ESC, frontwheeldrive.
Wish there was a decent spot near PDX without 4WD

It's amazing what you can get through with a 2WD car and snow tires.

Have fun!

Tons of terrain can be accessed from the plowed highway. You probably won't need to leave the pavement in Idaho.

Hi, I'll be in Boise next week and hope to hit Soldier, conditions permitting. Know nothing about the area. Do I need to rent a 4X4? What is the closest town and closest place to stay?

Any info much appreciated!

Thanks for the props waynepjh.

It is $20 to get a snow kite pass at Powder Mt. It includes using the Sun Rise and Hidden Lake ski lifts, also ski patrol is there to bail you out if you run into any problems. The mountain is sick, $59 for a lift pass that also covers snow kiting.
What is it these days for a lift pass at most ski hills?? Big resorts like Jackson Hole, Vail, and Park City are almost a hundred bucks now.

Those shots are sick though, looks fun!

Skyline and strabs are far better of spots to go to! There is hardly and terrain up there and you have to pay. Also you will get kicked off the hill at 4. just being honest!
