I just read that gopro is making a "double" case and some interpretation software so you can put two cameras together and shoot a 3D film!

You can already get tripods and mounts to film with 2 gopros to do 3d. The software i have not heard about though.

That's some pretty cool stuff. Should make for some interesting videos once people have a relatively inexpensive way to do 3D. Wonder how much the software is going to cost.

I find the best 3D experience is usually achieved by using your own eyes.

Haters! :)

Just thought it was cool...a double sized water proof case.

3d is best realtime, but not bad on a rainy crappy day when you need some stoke

When I was at the NAB show in Las Vegas last April, & checked out the GoPro booth, they had some 3D footage, and a "3D setup" but the guy said at that time it wasn't a production item, just something one of the guys had rigged up (a mount with 2 GoPro cameras). They had 3D footage of a guy driving a race car. Sorry to burst the bubble, but the haters have it right... it sucked. 3D is still kind of gimmick, and editing it is a nightmare. While it might seem like a really cool idea, you'll go through a finicky setup and have tons of issues in both shooting and post-production, all just to get some novelty footage. That's why even with 3D animation films, they use very specific shot types for their "big thrill" or "money shots", because some types of shots/camera angles etc work in 3D, and some don't. Just get the regular Go Pro, you'll be really happy and have a ton more fun than trying to work out the bugs of 3D shooting... unless you want to be on the bleeding edge, then go for it! Wink

Just got a Go Pro HD Surf and plan on using it snowboarding next week. What software are you guys using to view videos and also what are you using to edit with? What mount type has anyone had the best luck with for snowboarding? (helmet, chest, etc) any other tips would be appreciated- total newbie to Go Pro

Adobe premier elements is great for beginners, and pretty cheap

Got the best footage so far on the helmet mount for snowboarding. I think if your skiing the chest mount might work but for snowboarding it points sideways instead of down the line.

Have not tried any type of board mount yet since I'm worried about it ripping off in a bad wreck and loosing my camera.

For snowboarding, try mounting the GoPro on a pole and then hold it out in front of you, shooting back at yourself... might seem weird, but I've seen footage shot this way and it looks pretty cool.

Premiere, Final Cut, Vegas, are all good for editing. I use Premiere CS5, but that's for professional work, total over-kill for home movies. Really, just any software you can get your hands that will work with footage should be good.
