Thu Dec 16, 10 2:57 pm Best way to label boards with name and contact info? |
|
|
On my old board, I put a piece of duct tape on it and wrote my name and number. Duct tape doesn't last long in the sun and water. Then I bought a used board, and the prior owner simply used a sharpie right on the deck.
Now, I need to cross that out - or cover it up - and put on my own info. Also, when in Baja this winter I'll want to put down where I'm staying down there, and at home in the summer I just use my US phone number. So it's nice to be able to change info, whether because of a new owner, or new contact info.
Is there a good kind of tape or label I can apply to the deck, and then replace with a new one? What do you guys do? (And don't tell me "just don't lose your board"!) |

Yeah, the prior owner wrote "$$REWARD$$" under her name.
Never thought to use rubbing alcohol or acetone. If that works I'll stick with the sharpie. Thx. |

Of course rubbing alcohol or acetone work. Better to get the stronger 90% to 99% rubbing alcohol--great for sniffing after a session when you don't have beer Just kidding. Good to have small bottle of rubbing alcohol for cuts or if you want to put a drop or two in your ears after a session. I mainly do the ear thing after sailing in the Columbia, but I know others that do it after sailing in the ocean. Some don't do it at all, but I don't like ear infections. |

Sharpie and 'Reward'.
I've lost my board about 4-5 times in 5 years and I've gotten it back everytime. _________________ --------------------------------

I've used a layer of packing tape that I wrote on then another layer of clear packing tape over that. It has lasted longer than anyone should admit to owning a board! |

I use a paper mailing label, then cover it with packing tape. They've never come off after many seasons of riding, and I've easily removed two with "GooGone" and sold the boards. It's worked on both twin tips and surfboards for me. Acetone (nail polish remover) should work too but I think GooGone is slightly less caustic. |

lost a brandnew thorn 147 at 3rd street, and had no name,
when i asked to the finder to leave it with me they, the woman and child, said no that it was thiers , and i understand they never got it back.
its only a stupid person worries about resale, and I always stand by my style
which is if i know its between the board or kite, I dump the kite and swim with the board, kites are cheap, and good boards are few,
am only intrested in my style, and most people want to influence you with thiers.
Like stupid people that say, small kite, big ass, flat rocker board, my dog is constibated, from hearing this bullshit,
dont go out so over powered you can not get your board? or if the ebb is that nargly have a good plan, the buddy system is best and a marine whistle, is good
put your name on your kite, and never lose your board, also if you think that kite is your life raft you better learn how to swim! and do not talk to me about stlye
or spelling unless you give me your name and phone number and dirrection
because am coming over for dinner and beers!!! _________________ -know as the SECRET AGENT- |
