Does anyone know what efforts are being made by the CGKA or anyone else to improve the launch at Rowena?

Thanks for the info...

We have been building a relationship with the state park and working on a few plans to improve the launch but we still haven't agreed on anything. We have a lot of launches and are always looking for members that want to help. Rowena is an interesting place because there are a few hurdles we have to get through to make improvements there.

If you have suggestions we are open. You can always pm me or any of the board members or your welcome to come to our meetings. We have them the 2nd Friday of each month at the Hood River Newspaper office starts at 7pm

I'm a definite supporter of improving this launch site, but as Nicole mentioned, we have some significantly improved relations with the parks department, but since Rowena has so many natural obstacles that require difficult safety improvement solutions, we are still at a stalemate as to what we can do and how we can do it.

The CGKA could definitely benefit from having a fresh face to step up to bat and work with the CGKA and Oregon State Parks on this situation.

As Nicole mentioned, come to a CGKA meeting and step on board. So far, we've been on a good roll with our developing relationships within the government and state communities/organizations.

There is nothing wrong with rowena it is a great place to kite! Once you improve the launch it turns it into a zoo! If you do not like the launch then kite somewhere else it is that simple. I have kited there for years with no problems.

Better get used to it, the sport's growing popularity is only going to make things more crowded pretty much everywhere. Plus, this should help out the access troubles for Lyle and Secret Spot. I think your little honey hole is safe for a while though.
