According to the new ikitesurf meter (which does seem to read 5-6mph high), it is still gusting to 50mph at Rooster this morning.
The pressure gradient is still really strong also, so the East winds should last much of the day.

As of 9:15, it looks like it might be even windier than yesterday!

For what it's worth, it stayed at 50-55mph gusts through the morning, which made a fully depowered 5.5m impossible to hang on to. My much heavier friend made a valiant effort on a 6m, but it was just too much wind. Everyone else seemed to know this and the beach was completely empty.

I suppose there really is an upper limit of kiteable wind, and now I know where it is!

After yesterday< I think the gauge might be on the light side> i went out at about 330 on my 9 for a very short time and was quickly overpowered when the gauge was reading 22-37 or so but the gusts were much more than I could handle. Once again, it was an eye opening experience to see the wind that strong. I felt like i was parked at the top of mt hood with a snow storm and wind along with that. My truck just kept rocking back and forth with the gustys. Yesterday was like doing a class 5 creek but you did not want this to be your first time doing a class 5 run. The margin of error with the strong wind was nil!!!!!

Kochease and others. I was the much heavier guy Windpower was referring to on my 6m yesterday at Rooster. I have no idea what the wind speed was. I do know it was gusty. Maybe 35-50+. I don't feel like a smaller kite would have made the conditions better. It was gusty that is all there is to it. My kite was flying pretty stable for that much wind variance and didn't do any weird stuff in the gusts. I was impressed with the kites ability to handle those conditions. I am confident that I would have stayed out a lot longer and had tons more fun if it was a steady 45-50.

Thursday morning was better for windsurfing at Rooster, but I am hoping that Amery got some good video from the afternoon session and will be posting it soon.
