Looking for a spot that is both a mecca for regular skiing and snow kiting. These are the parameters that I seek.
Plenty for two teens to do after skiing.
Ski in ski out lodging available.
Easy access for snow kiting for a complete newbie to the snow kiting.
Direct flights from Florida.
Is there a such a place?
Btw I am a competent kiteboarder. Should I seek out lessons for snow kiting? Is the learning curve steep?

2nd Sun Valley. I have not heard of any destination that is walking distance to a lift and snow kiting in the US but Sun Valley's 56 miles to Camas Prairie is about as close to First Class double-dipping conditions for your winter vacation as it gets.
Also, Sun Valley is great for kids, has good history and shopping to keep the wife happy. Idaho in general has a fun vibe and pricing options that won't break the bank.

No lessons if you already know the basics. Snowkiting is simple; Less resistance = less wind so rig small first. Launching and landing with a snowboard on or off can take a little practice. Know your terrain and watch out for barbed wire fences and hidden rock coverage......they both can mess up your day fast.
Ski with your kids before you snowkite.......you'll know why after you see Camas.

Powder Mountain Utah!!!! Pretty sweet mountain if the wind is not blowin, sweet kiting if it is. Both accessed from the same parking lot. Also plenty to do down in the town of Ogden as well as a fair share at the resort Im sure.

Jackson Wyoming! You have one of the best resorts in the country and more kite spots within an hours drive than anywhere! Kiting 6-7 days a week! I have been to almost all the kiting events multiple times and there is no better place. The camas prarie is an awesome spot but "Sun Valley"??? no comparison! We are a small group of kiters and we get after it and love showing others around. There is not much info online but I would help with any questions just pm me I have some good conections! I have been a ski bum here for 20 years! If you are on facebook there is some info on "jackson hole kiters" page.
Let it snow! wayne

I agree with Wayne, JH is the place for both kiting and world class sking all in the same place. In 2006 I stayed at HostelX kited across the street (poached it, probably not cool now days). Next day rode the tram and you could see the tracks from the previous day kite session. If I knew the perspective I would have tried to spell something in the snow.

He was really high on that jump! I was standing on a big cliff and he was out in front of it! 200-300 feet maybe. He was not to siked on it though he meant to do a smaller glide close to the ground. toooo much lift!
we have been getting dumped on and there is 3-5 feet of snow! Kiting is on! I hope this is just a taste of whats to come! Here is another from treasure mt.

Was he in control of his altitude or was he being carried by the wind with little or no control?
200 ft? That is pure nuts.

The wind was building during a break and he jumped on a steep part of the hill with 25-30 mph wind! Sending him up! He was under control but higher than he wanted. It's easy to glide under a kite just not very safe. We try to fly back and forth staying close to the ground!
