Looks like you can now look up, and pay your property taxes on line with a CC. If you do so in Oct you also get a 40% discount. I went to the site and it's super easy to do. I was reluctant to his the "Pay" button though, as Mexico loves official paper with stamps on it as proof.

the site for La Paz is www.lapaz.gob.mx

Anyone done this and been happy with the results and receipt which I assume would be via email?

Thanks,
Eric

Tried to pay (perhaps foolishly), put my viza card number in etc. but when I hit the pay button it went to the verified by viza page and froze. So I dont know whether I paid or not. Nor do I have a receipt if I did. I will be watching my viza account closely.

I ended going for it last night and it went very smoothly--felt like buying on line from REI. I got an instant pop-up window receipt, as well as a receipt in my email. The charge showed up right away on my Visa account at an appropriate exchange--1888 Pesos = 152 USD--and a government name to the bill on my Visa.

Been to LaVentana a few times but haven't bought. What is the property tax rate there?

Shocked wow that's cheaper then 1 month water bill in White Salmon

Do you actually own the land or is it leased?

Ownership is through a trust. You are the recipient of the trust and a bank handles the trust deed. The bank, by Mexican Constitutional law, must act in your best interest. As such, you have as much, if not more rights than a Mexican citizen. The Trust costs about $375/year.
