They are working on a new bridge ( saw it yesterday ) and here is an article... A new park is also in the works.. Maybe a good time to get another launch as well...

Here is the print from the article: Project Engineer Anthony Miller of Advanced American Construction surveys the Wyeth Bridge last week as crews prepared to fill it with concrete. The bridge spanning the railroad tracks on the north side of the Interstate 84 exit at Wyeth is part of a multi-million-dollar project to build a fishing access site for tribal fishermen and a future day-use state park.

This has been in the works for a couple of years now.

We checked out the waterfront access that they are creating, and it is mainly focussed on providing protected boat launches that are pretty tight space-wise and lots of trees along the shoreline.

Definitely something to keep an eye on for possible future potential.

Nice run on 7s and 10s. Filled all the way. Easy launch and typical sorta-sketch landing (everything was fine).

Happy to get in a sesh while the weather/water were nice.

Yah, it would be super sweet if CGKA could be involved and work to get an area in the new park with enough grass to rig and launch. It seems that the park is a few years off, and the current scene ( earlier post) indicated that the initial look does not appear to be providing a workable solution for a great kiting set up.

Now would definetely be the time to get involved with the design and eventual lay out of the park Smile

Looks like that place could be fun for both East and West winds..

Hey, check out the photo that was posted. Has anyone ever kited in the area of river, on the washington side, just south of hwy 14 and the base of Wind Mountain? I know people do the BOG race, but I doubt they hang around the area I'm inquiring about. I always drive by on i-84 west towards PDX and I see some nice water out. It appears there are no launches around except Stevenson up wind. Wind quality anyone who has been there?

Far right side of photo above, in the middle of the river channel.

thx.

Our elections are coming up. You should consider joining the Board. We are always looking for people with good ideas and follow thru.

Wind quality here is generally very good....... best in the AM hours (10 AM - 12 noon) on both east and west winds. Afternoons can produce variable conditions depending on wind direction. Swell is variable...... sharp and tall swell on the Oregon side, round and smooth down the middle...... flat on the far Washington side.

Scenery is stunning......... the most awesome views from the river in the Gorge!!

There's a point that sticks out at Wyeth that gets great wind exposure for both east and west wind launches..... if the brush were cleared away, there's enough space between the shoreline and the trees to create a really nice rigging area for your kites.

Mark, I have lived here in Hooville for just over two years and since I dont actually work in the community I've wanted to volunteer some to get better involved. I've done so in a few areas but this seems like a really good fit and perhaps I can provide some value here and have fun doing something that I am passionate about.

When is the next meeting? If I'm not traveling for business, I'll show up and check it out !!!

thanks

Excellent...
I'll be there..

My name is Patrick...

And Pepi... If you remind me, or I remember, lets talk about your ATV needs.. I am in the Powersports Industry and around ATV's all the time. I have some great "unbiased" insight that could help point you in a good direction to solve that one.

The boat launch area is pretty much a no go for a bunch of reasons. But the state land downstream definitely has possibility.

Corps of Engineers had blueprints of a plan from a few years ago that I saw which showed the line drawn between the tribal land and day use area..... the area that would be a good launch site was well within the day use area.

Wish I had a copy of that plan, unless of course they changed it (I wouldn't be surprised).

According to that plan, here's where things would go....
