OT : Seeking some quad (cycle,not board) advice

Very off topic, but seems like everyone on NWKite knows something about everything.

Looking for a used Quad as a work vehicle on my property. I'm currently killing myself hauling wood and debris all over 2.5 acres.
I'm looking at quads with racks and that can pull at least 4-500lbs.
Honda and Kawasaki seem most reliable?

I have had bikes from all the major brands they are all pretty good. for low maintence go efi(fuel injection). The major thing to figure out is how much you are going to use it to play on. The difference between quads is huge for playing. if it is just to do work with tractor gets a lot more done. Or these are pretty cool http://salem.craigslist.org/cto/1903682010.html

get a john deere gator, polaris ranger, yamaha rhino, etc, you'll get much more work use out of it

how much "work" are you doing? I disagree with your statement on most reliable. I have owned and ride with people who own all kinds of quads. At this time, I own 7 of them (I think). 2 suzuki King quads 700cc which are great work horses.

if you truly have larger loads to hauls, a tractor will be much better. If you need something to haul a small trailer around from time to time, a quad is a great way to go. You can work with it, and when the time comes, you can take it to the dunes or mountains or beach and have a blast riding it all over.

I don't own one, but I would recommend a Yamaha Grizzly. The new ones are fuel injected, and have a GREAT electronic power steering system. I love my king quads, but they have a real problem with slow battery drain. This may be true of the new grizz as well, but I haven't heard of it being as much of a problem as the KQ. Basically, if you don't leave the KQ on a trickle, you can have a dead battery after one month of sitting. I put better batteries in, so it isn't as bad as it was with the factory batteries.

you can email me if you have any other questions. I'd buy a zuki, Kawi, or Yami, but not a Honda for a good workhorse quad.

Can't beat a small 4 wheel drive tractor for property cleanup and maintenance.
Forks and bucket for the front, 3 point w/PTO for a flail mower or tiller on the back.
Hood River Supply sells small tractors. End of season deal maybe?
Or rent one from the Rental Center. Ask for delivery.

A quad might help but a tractor with the right attachments will let you do the job
faster and with more safety.
