Any ideas on the elevation of the mountain passes on the way down to La Ventana? It looks like there are two on the way down. |

This hill keeps me up at night when I'm driving south and north.
It is a jaw-dropper the first time you peak over the crest going down
In a car it is probably no big deal, but with a camper it will pucker your sphincter. |

It's not the elevation, but the oncoming rv crossing into your lane that will scare the shit out of you. Mex 1 is like driving the hood river bridge at 50 mph with no guard rails, no shoulders, sharp unmarked turns, and gringos who can't stay in their lanes. Oh yeah, throw in some random livestock and you've got it. Good fun!
One of the best roads in North America. |
