I've been having a fun time playing with the Shadowbox http://shadowboxlive.com/ the last few days.

Here are a couple views of the upwind part of my session today. All kinds of nerdy facts.... It's 2.4 miles in a straight line from where I started at the sandbar to where this plot ends just up from the Hatch. I covered 11.03 miles to get there on the path I took, at an average speed of 16.1 mph.

Here is a shot looking toward the White Salmon Bridge of my best jump, 20.0 feet, felt like 40 to me hahah.

Checking out my backroll in the RideTracker software.

Think I saw you out there, uh, mowing. lol
I made this plot using Hein-tracker.
Memory might be a little corrupt but you
get the idea.

I heard there was supposed to be another Shadowbox jump contest in the Gorge in August.
This one would be open to anyone (kiters and windsurfers), not just the invited teams.
Hopefully there will be details appearing soon.

It's true, I have been known to mow the lawn from time to time, but here is section from a few days ago that includes a little downwind "swell" turning.

Any idea what format the data is in? Can it be exported to a standardized XML like gpx or Garmin's TCX? Is there a time-stamp embedded in the data?

OK, geeky, I confess, but this is the kind of stuff I deal with for a living and it's cool when I get to cross it over into my hobbies (kiting and biking). And trust me, the questions only get geekier from here... Wink

Just got 4 SB's in for the Naish Maui Race Series event #2. We will run 4 man heats concurrent with the races.

Should be interesting!

This is awesome and I am very tempted to whip out my checkbook. I've wanted something like this for years. Unfortunately the company has developed a $500 iPhone that doesn't make calls, surf the web, or any of the 10,000 other things that an iPhone does. The iPhone 4 has a three axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyro, a magnetometer, and a GPS: everything that the shadowbox has.

Let's hope they come out with a $50 iPhone app and $50 waterproof case that obsoletes the $500 hardware purchase. Plus, you could use your find-my-phone feature to find your lost board.

Here's the response from the Shadowbox team to my iPhone question:

We have done a feasibility test with the iPhone 4g, and all looks great. We'll have this app out hopefully by January... Great idea on locating ones board!!

I'll be happy to pony up some bones for the app as I'm sure many others on this forum are as well.
