With spinal cord injuries, it can go any which way and sideways. It is just too early to give a prognosis and has really only been six weeks since the accident. We are all fully confident that Kinsley will recover -- just a matter of how long it will take.
Many have shared their inspirational stories with us so it is not unusual for people with these type of injuries not to regain feeling/movement for two months to two years! I know that I got hit by a drunk driver over 10 years ago and suffered cyatic nerve damage where I couldn't feel/move anything below my right knee. It took five weeks and five days (2 days before I was released) to finally start to get feeling in my big toe. When the nerve endings start reconnecting its like someone has a blow torch to you - the affected area feels like its on fire and is very painful. It took me also a year to walk again without a brace.
So everybody, keep the positive vibes coming! WE also just launched a fundraiser yesterday whereby your donation can get you excellent cases of wine, generously donated by a local kitesurfer/winemaker in our area with 100% of proceeds going to Kinsley's donation fund. New easier to remember website with udpates and how you can help/take advantage of the wine offer at www.friendsofkinsley.com _________________ Marina
