What are the South winds like at the coast, compared to the North winds?

Sometimes wet, but always REAL, not the fickle, foggy fade-away NW crap we get in the summer. And you don't have to wait till freaking 6pm for them to come up. And there's waves!

BRING ON FALL!!!!!!

Manzanita was wild and windy. 10m was too much, went down to my 8m torch. Another kiter was on a 7m Rev. Waves were very powerful.

At least the hole was made with the bar, not your nose Smile

Maybe glue a foam pad on the end of the bar to prevent that from happening again?

Aren't south winds in the fall/winter a little puffy? I can remember my winter windsurf days on Nahalem Bay with a 4.0 meter sail getting pinned down in the water waiting for squalls to pass. Looking towards the south a seeing a froth of water coming and going through the 'Oh shit' cycle occurred numerous occasions.

But I also had many sessions where the wind was spot on and steady. But I could never tell when it was going to go from 20 knots to 40 knots in minutes.

I've wanted to kite south winds in the winter but I've always had and uneasy feeling about it.
