is there any shop in hood river i can pick up a small amount of epoxy like west system for a good price? skim needs some structural help.
i could just get the small all inclusive epoxy ding kits , but if i could get more epoxy and glass for about the same price, would prefer to have more for future needs.
also, is the epoxy in the ding kits of comparable quality? i had tons of west system in australia, but figured the airlines wouldn't like it very much. |

Fiberglass Supply across the river in Bingen has tons of supplies for building/repairing boards - resins, fiberglass, foam blanks, divinycell, dynamat, etc etc etc.

We have small epoxy repair kits at the shop that contain enough material for a couple of small repairs or two big repairs (currently using one kit to rebuild tails on two surfboards and a ding).
OR
There is also the Solarez Epoxy that is simply freakin' awesome for quick and durable ding/nic repairs that will not deteriorate from uv exposure. Follow the directions exactly as the resin cures via UV exposure and cures very quickly. _________________ Pure Stoke Sports

The Solarez (for epoxy, not polyester, they make both) should do the trick for small repairs. I use wax paper to help smooth it and reduce lumps (it doesn't sand so easily).
I've never found a West Systems supplier in the gorge but at West Marine in Portland. There's a boat-builder named Ray in White Salmon and he may be able to help you out, but I'm not sure which resin he uses. Pierre does lots of epoxy windsurf board repairs for the shops so he could be a source of knowledge if you could track him down these days.
Good luck! |

go to the hardware store next to windance. back near all the other expoxies there is a small tube of this marine grade stuff that I use and it works great. about $5-10 for the tube. It's called something like pc-11. not sure.
It sets up overnight but I use it on my slider board and it works pretty well, it dries an off white so if that doesn't bother you, got my recommendations. _________________ Respect the kite, respect the beaches |
