The current E31 at Rooster is way over the top of my skim board skills.

Does Jones work on an east wind? What kind of gradients or temp differences do you need?

I thought about the ponds at area D, but the east winds look pretty light on the coast. at least right now.

I would say no. Hit Stevenson or Viento! Camas should be rideable right now too. PDX will probably go later.

Where is the spot to launch at PDX?

On Marine drive, West end of the airport, just on the East side of the boat ramp. Leave nothing valuable in sight. (Crackhead theft problems.) On a day like today, it'll be crowded with beach goers.

I've seshed at PDX when Rooster is nuked but never Camas. Is Camas generally lighter easterly wind compared to Rooster?
Also, how's the launch?

It's in the wind shadow of Reed Island, won't work with E winds.

Rode my skimboard for 2 hours today at Stevie, cruised way upwind to dat butter spot.

Skimboards haul upwind, so if you can ride it you should be able to stay upwind easier than on a TT.

Generally, yes. Almost always. When the water is low the launch isn't to bad. No sand, river rock launch. Right where 14 crosses the mouth of the Washougal. Went by there today, would have been a good spot. I rode elsewhere, F&^%ing GREAT spot!!!! Mini Isla De Coche. Very Happy One of the best sessions of the year. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Steady 16 to 20 mph winds, BUTTER flat water. One kite in the air, mine. God Damn, but I love Easterlies.

Not so, young Padewan. When RR is NUKING, (50 or 60+) and there's some south in the wind, Cottonwood can go. Summer Easterlies generally have some North in the wind.

I never had good luck at cottonwood. Crap shoot at best and a long hike to boot. If you hit pdx, launch near the pile dikes, the current ia reduced behind them (obviosly as that is what they are desinged to do).

I found out quick that the current really speeds up right next to boat launch ramp at pdx especially with the new cement wall/dike whatever.
RR was really steady yesterday! Thought I was going to miss it getting out after 5 but rode for 2+ hours on my new 11m.
Then I jammed my knee. I knew that I was getting tired. It's always at the end of a sesh when we're getting tired that we hurt ourselves, isn't it?
Next time I'll quite as soon as I feel tired.

True. It's a possible option on some days, especially if you live close by. for a 10 minute drive it's worth checking out at times. I always run down to the beach and check the wind before I start dragging stuff out of the car. If it's a long drive...
