A third vote for the 6M Switchblade. I have ridden it in super gusty 35-45 conditions, and it never does any weird stuff. I weigh 185, and usually ride a 5'5" or 5'9" thruster in these conditions. I have the '09 IDS model.

I agree with you on the Rev's. I had my 9M Rev do exactly the same thing you mentioned your 7M did. It was in side-off conditions in Baja, and scared the shit outta me. Sold the thing when I got back.

I think most people don't pump up REVs hard enough. Every time I launch one, it feels a bit soft to me... I pump mine to 9 PSI, rock hard, and have never had one do anything weird in any kind of wind. I'd bet that Rev's that do weird shit are at 6 or 7 PSI.

There's so many variables when pumping by feel. An accurate gauge is invaluable. The problem with any gauge mounted on the pump is they become inaccurate over time. The high pressure peaks during pumping go beyond the pressure capacity of the gauge. A separate hand held gauge will maintain it's accuracy if well cared for.

$13 bucks.

I'm glad the kites are working well for you, I just didn't have the same experience.

I always pumped mine up to 9psi. Didn't make a difference. Nak, maybe you don't go down the line straight at your kite, which is when it happened to me?

The kite worked fine, until I started heading straight towards it, hoping it would fall back in the window. That's when it folded in half, and fell out of the window. Not very confidence inspiring.

[quote="pdxmonkeyboy"]Hmmm. That wind wing sounds nice. I know that all their stuff is sooo money. I did NOT like my 7 rev in high winds. Without the short lines in it, it was a nightmare. The LE folded under in me no less than half a dozen times on me one weekend at the coast. I was overpowered and would carve down a face, sheet all the way out and POP! I would look up in horrer

Or a sign of somebody that actually wants to ride down the face of a wave.. Shocked Shocked

Sorry folks, but being lit on the shoulder of a wave or getting yanked along just in front of a wave as it breaks, isn't surfing. The more I can dump the power of the kite and just glide, the happier I am.

Yo Nak. I pumped the living shit out of my Rev's, its just then when they are fully depowered, the aspect to the wind is soo high that I believe that the turbulant flow on the bottom of the canopy causes enough low pressure that the leading edge gets sucked under. Mine folded under then popped back. I have seen them fold under then explode.

I have no illusions that I am actually cool enough to be a surfer. Its a shame cause surfers are all about sharing the love and stoke... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
