...this should be the nail in the coffin.

that stuff is so hard to do

I windsurfed for 10 years before my 3 years of kiting, and I just got back into it, had a killer 4.7 session the other day and damn that is a thrill, nothing like planning like mad on a windsurfer!

kiting still rocks

all good fun on the water

That was some serious mastery...reminds me of some of the entertainment guys like Chris Anderson would provide at the Hatchery on lighter days. I've never seen anyone huck there sail of in the air and catch it like that. Shocked

Lac Bay Bonaire. I have seen that guy there in person. It's pretty un-real.

That guy is crazy good at sail handling!!

I windsurfed hardcore for 15 years and barely mastered heli-tacks and sail 360's. Maybe this might start something new in kiteboarding with kite tricks while riding?

Question Question Question

Thought I would chime in here.
My wife and I went to Hood River and Jason booked us a windsurfing lesson at Big Winds.

My wife had very little experience and took a beginner II lesson...she was so stoked and can't wait to go back and get more into it.

I took a waterstart one lesson and I got waterstarting down by the end of the day .
I never had a clue how and now I feel comfortable charging the river.
Gotta say it was damn fun.

I windsurfed as a kid in the late 80's...big clunky heavy gear.
Uphauling is a bitch.

But the modern sails and boards are insanely light weight?!

It's actually pretty easy to learn to get up and go if you already understand wind and know how to kite.

And to us windsurfing makes a lot of sense in the gusty and un accessible gorge territory.
More places to windsurf than kite for sure.
I am going to set us both up with some gear by next summer.

Living on the beach we get the beach to ourselves all summer during the week.

But windsurfing here would not really be that fun....not really windy enough....especially this year.

So windsurfing is going to be our new stoke in summer to get away for the weekend etc.

I think the cool guy image has sort of hi-jacked kiting.
I liked the geek squad that started the sport too.

It's cool to meet different people and realize that windsurfing is still a HUGE sport in the world scene.

We are stoked and if you thought of trying it you should.
$85 for a lesson and rental is a steal.
And the kids and wife can do it too.

I think we will start to see more people crossing over to both sports since they are similar ----yet different ----stoke.

Sort of like surfing's longboarding and shortboarding.

Yeah----I got that board up to a plane and it was a serious rush.
Can't wait to get air on that big planing hull.
