1/4" plywood, 2 layers of fiberglass...i had a difficult time getting the inserts to not buldge out.

i tried to get a photo of the concave, but failed to turn out any decent pics. took about a week to press the wood into the shape i wanted, even then i lost a lot of the rocker after the wood dry'd out.

thanks for the kind words,...took a long time, but now i got more knowledge so the next will churn out like butter.

Nice boards Blowhard and Sol-Flyer. 1/4 inch ply, now we're talking.

You guys building your own should get some of my plates from NSI.
Not as cheap as the pads you are using but they are much better and
you can reuse them. The foot straps mount to the plates so there
is less stress on your inserts. You can also adjust the stance with a lot
fewer inserts in the board. It might be nice to be able to try some
different strap angles on that scooter, Blowhard.

And maybe the nicest feature. No logos! Production companies seem
to want to put their name on everything.

I've got inserts too if you need them. It's always been a tough thing
to source for the DIY board builder. Come on by; I have lots of scrap
material too if that helps.

How do you keep the water from getting into the wood through the fin screw holes ?

nice I like the board Im thinking of building a big lightwind board. Where do you buy the inserts? Is 1/4" plywood strong enough?

i got the inserts at my local ace hardware,...T-nut's and there about .25ea. thats also where i found the plastic spacers.
At first i was'nt sure if 1/4"plywood would be enuff, so i used 2 layers of fiberglass material, which added a signifigant amount of wieght.

try to find balsa wood, thats the lightwind dream. Wink

I realize that you're from Tigard, or so your "location" says, and you've probably got someplace closer, but if not Parkrose Hardware has all you need...

actually 10 pnds isnt that bad,...the slingshot LFT board is a few pnds heavier. And my foam core board is about 7pnds.

i had a brief ride on an 06' slingshot misfit 133" and it felt like it was probaly 7-10pnds...(anyone?) i figure using 1/4 ply would help shed off the x-tra pnds,...but not when you double up the glass.
