Anyone know anything about Plumb Beach near sheepshead bay in Brooklyn? A friend of mine is wanting to get into kiting and has seen kiteboarders there.
Any NY kite forums people would recommend? Wind conditions? Length of season? _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

An accident waiting to happen..
Beach is small, at high tide hardly any room to launch and lined with trees. Behind the trees the Belt Parkway. At least a couple of times in the past few years someone manged to get a kite on the highway..
notheless it is the closest kite spot to Manhattan, kind of crowded with 15 /20 people on any given day plus some pole surfer. Doable year round if you dress up properly. Best conditions SW and S. E and ESE doable too. Water is flat (it's behind the eastern tip of the Rockaways) and shallow. Shoes/booties are recommended because there's a lot of crap at the bottom (somehow has been used as a junkyard in the past).
NO subway nor any public transp nearby.
JOnes Beach is waaay out in Long Island. |
