I need to get out Saturday somewhere there will be wind. Problem is I haven't really been anywhere but SI and I don't trust my car to go as far as it would need to without crapping out on me.

If anyone is going out on Saturday to Jones or the coast or whatever and has an extra seat I'd love to bum a ride. I'll chip in for some gas too.

I'll probably be heading out to Jones on Saturday and Sunday. I'm in Vancouver, wouldn't mind picking you up if you are in the Portland area.

Cool. I live in Beaverton but I can meet you in Vancouver. I just don't want to drive an hour an a half away to have my car die on me. That would be a LONG tow home. I'll PM you tomorrow or Saturday and see if you are still going.

Yeah Jones looks like it will pick up around 2-3 on the weekend, but if it doesn't look promising at the end of Friday I will probably look to go somewhere else. Either way I don't mind the company.

Where are you looking for your forecast? The one that WindOnTheWater links to says "Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. West wind between 5 and 10 mph." for Friday and about the same for Saturday.

I generally just look for a large temperature gradient from astoria to kelso (10+ degrees). On the day-of you can check the Sensors for the temperature and pressure gradients and see if its moving in the right direction before leaving the Portland area. Jones has been good every weekend this month for me.

Clouds cleared up around 2PM today in the Kalama-Longview region, at least from what I could see. Wind picked up again shortly after, like usual. I think tomorrow should be the same?

I haven't been out to jones yet but I'm guessing with this cloud cover it's probably not going to be great unless it clears up real quick.

It's looked like this every day this week, usually starts to clear up around 2PM. No guarantees!

Heavy marine layer is hanging around PDX later than normal. Could shut down Jones unless it burns off quick.

Best way to forecast Jones is to look for a solid pressure gradient from Astoria to Longview/Kelso. Gradient map can be found here

Just click on Oregon....once that page loads click on the tab that says pressure. You want the arrow between Astoria and longview to be pointed east and look for a .03 or better number.
