Sat Jul 17, 10 10:44 am Anyone have experience with a GoPro camera? |

I know there have been a few threads about cameras on here but does anyone have experience with the GoPro specifically? The helmet hero seems like a decent deal and if I keep having awesome days like I did yesterday I am thinking pretty soon I am going to want to have a cam.
The camera can be found here: http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=29
When I have a little spare cash I would definitely be willing to shell out the cash for one of these if they are quality. Got to get some video of the SI crowd up _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Check this thread to see some example photos and videos made with the GoPro.

For the money, it is hard to beat the HD GoPro.
The only catch is the wide angle lens means you generally need to be shooting yourself or someone extremely close to you for the best results. |

I've had a go pro helmet cam for about a year now and I found it a great investment. I use it kiteboarding, snowboarding, rafting, any event that would be too risky with a more expensive camera setup.
My housing has the wide angle view which isn't necessarily that great for shots on the water because it has a tendency to "flatten out" all the swells and give the perception that everything is really far away. I'd recommend getting the regular view housing instead.
I get about 20 min on a 2 Gb flash card. I carry 2 spares in my pfd and swap them out accordingly. Get yourself some rechargeable batteries for sure.
The camera has sound but sound recording in the waterproof housing is extremely squelched so you'll need to yell to be really heard.
Basically, it's a great little toy. High enough quality to take with you kiting yet cheap enough that it won't break your bank and if it breaks you don't feel too bummed. _________________ It's always happy hour somewhere in the world. |

Thanks for the information. I'll definitely do that when I get around to buying it. The board fin mount looks like a pretty good thing too. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |
