please. $80,000 car is a vanity project.
however, in the past i have owned a "semi-reliable" car (reliable steering and brakes, not so reliable at starting). i never drove it outside of the AAA towing distance (100 miles) and had tons of fun with it (kitesurfing, kayaking, plus normal schleping around).
a 250 mile round trip limit would work for me as a one of the two cars in my garage. once gas hits $10 a gallon or so i'm sure there will be some reasonable hatchback versions of this on the market. |

Pretty sweet!! Although I don't know about lithium ion batts. I just read they are working on batteries that derive there energy from radioactive isotopes with a half life of 15 years. There are currently designed for remote sensors and the like that need really long life batteries but the consumer market is not that far off.
Imagine charging your lap top once a year!! |
