This is a very powerfull 13m. Made me think I was riding a bigger kite, but handled like a smaller model.
>>> The day at pismo was really up and down, and the wind died at least four times, guys went from riding 7m to swimming in?
>>>>>> Octanes observation, when pumping this kite up, I right away saw the kite has a deeply sculpted air foil, thin struts, and i didn,t see any battens<thank you>
>>>> The bar is good< seeing as i did have to selfrescue, ejected both kite, and leash> work just as should have!!
>> This kite is very good. It was very fast, the bar was easy to hold on too, with stock setting. Was able to point really high angle upwind, and the kite did not do any suprize.
.... The 2010 Octane gave a grand confidence to jump. I deffently felt that this would be a great racing kite. Speed was as fast as i could handle, yet the low end was very strong. I thought at first it was not enough wind, so I jammed the bar against the chicken. Went 30 feet and was ridding against the stopper, that made turning upwind easy!!! Only a first impression and a good one, more to follow. S.A. Laughing Very Happy

::Looking at other kites I really stress.
> The need for poeple to under stand, that the more these kites do the same thing, they are all very differant and are many things to like and dislike, some modle kites are classic and will always be good,
>> The point is , the new octane is better, in one ride I felt it,
....... The octane felt responsive yet steady, very tight in the air, silent , light and very powerful, ,
>>>>> Last note, the air foil, is very worked over on this kite, which tranlats in to no surprizes, the secret agent reports,,,

PostMon Jun 07, 10 10:02 am    seems some issues on below the bar depower Reply with quote

O.K. if you are use to a above the bar set up. Below will take getting use to.
.... the easyest way to pull in is before you launch that baby.Which sould be always,?,
:: When in the air it might be two hands one hand too pull the rope lose up top, this was suggested to me in argentina? and works! most guys are not depowering consantly anyway. And proper set up, is not easy if self lauching and landing, having some one help change settings, those differant knots are for a reason and using them takes practice,<lots of people use always the same knot>
:::: Keep your bar as close to the chicken as possible, will prevent backstalls, and you should have plenty of depower with just the bar through, keep the stoper about four inches down then you have a little emergancy<PUSH IT UP > , in a perfect power set up while holding the bar agaist the chicken the kite slowly moves back in the window creating more power and water speed, hooked in of corse, for unhooking you might change knots to let the kite fly forward in the window, little turns up and down creat great amounts of power and speed, S.A.
