Wed May 26, 10 7:31 amRecruiting Ocean Rodeo team riders in Hood River!!!
Hi All,
In conjunction with our annual demo event and party with Windance Boardshop in Hood River (see the poster for details), John Z and myself will be looking to hook up two or three Gorge area riders with regional team rider status!! Those chosen will be entitled to elevated Crew status, earning killer discounts on equipment and becoming integral in helping to spread some Ocean Rodeo love at their local spots. It is not necessary that you currently ride OR, and while you must be a competent rider, team riders are selected based on their overall attitude towards the sport and fellow riders.........we look for those who will be good ambassodors for Ocean Rodeo, and importantly, for the sport in general........
See you at the beach!

So what's a Go-Joe going to run after the discount?

Sorry to hear that, but the best way to reach us is to contact us directly, not via a forum (we're not always looking......):

Dear Mr. Stolze,
I am the perfect man for the position you are looking to fill. I am not from the gorge, but I spend all of my free time there, so I like to consider myself a local.
You specified in your ad that, ”while you must be a competent rider, team riders are selected based on their overall attitude towards the sport and fellow riders”. As far as the competent rider, I guess it’s pretty subjective. I am not a professional kite surfer yet, however I am an extremely proficient kite flyer and body dragger.
As far as my overall attitude, I am definitely your man:
I am the guy on the sandbar (or any other rigging site you’ve ever been to) who loves to talk to my fellow kiters. You know the guy rushing to pump and lay his lines to get out for an afterwork session before the wind fades? I’m the guy standing right next to him, talking his ear off. Sometimes I even put my wetsuit on.
I can talk aspect ratios, bridle mods, line lengths, you name it. I come from the windsurfing background (though to be honest I was never able to water start. Or beach start. To be frank I never even stood on a board. I did use one of those carts with a sail on it once, but not when it was windy.) so talking tech is sort of my thing.
Speaking of talking tech, I will also be of invaluable help to your R&D team. I will send you weekly reports detailing what I think is imperfect about your current gear with tons of advice on how to improve it. I will call you or your designer daily with all sorts of helpful “real rider” feedback. You needn’t thank me for this.
You also stated, “It is not necessary that you currently ride OR”. This is good because right now I own a quiver of Epic kites. After speaking with Dimitri for a couple minutes at a trade show he told me that we were good friends and that I could be his team rider.
You also stated that I could get “killer discounts on equipment”. That is great because my only board right now is a surfboard with no straps. I threw the straps away a couple years ago because I heard strapless was cool, but I cannot ride strapless. I recently got some Ronix boots for similar reasons, but the spacing does not match the inserts on my surfboard, so I will need some sort of board from you that will fit my boots. I also have a jersey and big headphones.
In conclusion, I am the perfect man for the job. I will be on the sandbar at 7 AM every day you are in Hood River, and can spend all day discussing the details of our upcoming relationship with you and learning about (and advising you on) the tech details of all your gear.
Looking forward to it,
Daniel

When was the last time North showed some Sandbar support? I see a lot of North R&D happen there but not a whole lot of giving anything back. Because of this, I figure you shouldn't say shit when another brand is trying to hook up a couple people from the Sandbar kiting community.

I nominate this guy. He should really help to get your brand noticed in the Gorge.
If you're not interested, it's still worth resurrecting this video for anyone who missed it last year.

I agree with Forrest.
It would be nice to be part of the OR crew;
Thanks for the offer Evan!
(But that Capt'n Rogers Clip is the hilarious!)

Danny,
You have way too much time on your hands amigo.....the thought and detail that you point into that post is truly inspiring. By the way, I have been wearing that bandana that you gave me in San Quintin religiously with the hopes that your infinite wisdom and strength of character will pass on to me. In fact, I may even take it one step further and get a mohawk since I am told that now all of the cool people in Hood River have one in the hopes of emulating you.
See you on the beach this weekend Dan.at.North - please do join us to try a Rise and drink a beer or two.
(Forrest, Danny and I are friends and he is being facetious......) _________________ Ocean Rodeo, US Sales

That's all fine and dandy, I figured as much just couldn't pass up a chance to pick on North. Though, I do wonder where North's local regional riders are, and when some of the North riders are going to get on some boots rather than the straps. At least Tom Court is getting after it.

Here's North's newest HR team rider.
And for the record, my previous message was meant 100% for amusement purposes. I was gonna send it private, but I ran it by a few people first and they thought it was funny so I threw it out there. Come on; boots on a surfboard?

No need to state anything for the record, you guys realize this is the Internet right? HAha!

Okay, back on track......a quick note as I'm hitting the road and heading North soon.....to all those sending me PM's re the team rider gig, thank you very much for taking the time to do so, but it is not necessary and we are looking to meet people personally at the event. All you need to do is show up...... _________________ Ocean Rodeo, US Sales
