Here is my first video attempt with my new GoPro HD. Easy to shoot footage, and a lot of work to muddle thru the mess to collect some good stuff. Not much wave riding this day as surf was small with near shore buoy reading 4 ft @ 9 seconds. However, the riding thru the surf and other stuff was way fun!! Still trying to figure out how to mute out riding sound and dub over it with cool tunes.

Let me know what you think of helmet cam perspective of a days work:

Enjoy!!

Nice Windian!

Great picture quality! You should be able to mute or turn down the volume on the audio in the track that you put the video-audio in, and add music to another audio track to get your tunes.

Go pro's are awesome, especially when they are dry and don't have the annoying droplet of water that always seems to stick in the middle of the lens.

I think another key is to mix it up. In a given session, you need to switch it up between board mount, helmet, line mount, kite mount, hand held, etc. Watching any POV for too long gets stale. It's so cool though, anyone watchig your vid gets a good idea what it like to go kite on the ocean!

Thumb's Up

Some good footage for sure. As commented above, you need to break it up with different clips or angles to keep it interesting. Watch hoe many times the Camera angle changes in movies or tv. Each clip is about 3-5 seconds Watch kramers winch video. He does this shit for a living and his movies tell the whole story....the sign of a good video.

Thanks for the good advice and comments. I agree it definitely needs to be more broken up into short clips of action and music. I am pretty happy with picture quality with such a small and relatively inexpensive device as the HD GoPro.

I just used the GoPro curved mount in their grab bag with the 3M stickum tape to attach to my Gath helmet and it feels very secure. However, I did rig a small leash of kiteline from the camera housing to my helmet just in case the mount fails.
