Anyone know what to expect from conditions at Floras in May. I'm a beginner wondering if its possibly worth the trip from pdx?

there's no water, the army core of engineers drained the lake because it was deemed a hazard to nearby residents if there was to be a major earthquake on the juan de fuca plate

It's always worth the drive, just plan to stay at least one night cause it's a long drive from PDX.
Slingshot is running a demo day May 29th-31st at Floras!! http://www.floraslake.com/flw2.html.
If they drained the lake, that's OK, you can still landboard, or learn how to. Should be supreme post drainage!!!!

B.S. I think some locals just don't want people coming to their local spot!

FLORAS LAKE: rainbow trout, cutthroat trout
Floras Lake was stocked last week, but lake the lake was high and muddy from recent rains. Anglers can expect trout fishing to pick up by the weekend as the lake drops and clears. Bank access is limited, so most anglers launch a boat at Boice Cope County Park. Slow trolling wedding ring spinners or fly fishing are pretty effective.

I'm trying to figure out how the lake would drop in the winter... Is Chooch fucking with us too or is it not fed as much by rain and more by snowmelt?

Haha not calling you a liar Chooch. I was just trying to figure that one out.
I do remember reading about how they were going to make the lake a port until the powers that be figured out that if they dredged a channel the lake would drain into the ocean :O)

It is there, but after they refilled it with seawater I found this little fellow on the east shore. Looked like one of the locals had his way with it...
