Mon May 10, 10 6:55 pm Wierd waist harness questions |
|
|
1) Has your waist harness ever spun around on you, putting your safety/QR behind you?
2) Has your QR ever failed and so you unhooked your waist harness and were free?
3) Do they make any harnesses or spreader bars that could act as a backup for a failed QR so that you can come completely free in an emergency?
Thanks |

1) Never had that happen, pretty sure that could only happen if you had it SUPER loose.
2) Never have taken off my harness to ditch the kite. Pulling the leash should let the kite go.
3) Yes. Both Pro Limit and Mystic have red clickers to get you in and out of your harness. While they are not designed for that, in a extreme scenario that could work for ya!
Hope that helps |

There is no way that those harness systems will release under a load. Check out the Sling Shot surefire spreader bar if you want added safety. |

Yes to all three. I was unhooked last year and my leash sprung open. My Mystic harness has a handle pass leash with its own QR that you connect your regular leash to. I took the QR off my regular leash so that it doesn't have one, I use the one on the harness and carry a serrated kershaw as well. At least I think that was your question? I'm also pretty sure that the surefire thingies by SS suck ass. |

I should have said that a little differently. The Mystic one might not work under load but the Pro Limit has a pull away release on the HP leash. |

The Ocean Rodeo has a release that will eject the leash. |

I used the SS surefire bar for a long time. It works great and I never had a problem with it. |
