So I recently got an HD GoPro and have collected some raw footage. I now want to make my first video using just Window Movie Maker and put some music to some edited clips, nothing elaborate.

The question I have is there a good source or sources for music that will not be in violation of copyright laws that I can use? I was told by a friend that he thought you can use iTunes purchased material since they bought the rights to use and sell the music.

Any suggestions out there as I eventually want to upload to Youtube or Vimeo!!

Question Question Question

Best thing you can do is add some text in the video referencing the artist or add it in to the movie notes. Buying on I tunes or in the store is not license to broadcast or use the music for "promotional" purposes. Never seen a vimeo movie with stripped music but I have had several utube videos stripped if their music. Even artists like ween

In my experience movie maker doesn't handle the large MP4 files well. I tried it on my computer with windows movie maker and it produces a still video with sound but only plays the first clip you edit and after that the video freezes but audio keeps going. You'll need something better than movie maker.

I gave up on editing with movie maker, and therefore all-together for now.

I made a clip for utube and realized that I wasn't allowed to use real music by law just before I uploaded , oooops
I have a mac and it has garage band to make your own or you can use computer generated . Too easy . And legal too .
So maybe you could borrow a mac from someone .

Anything released under a creative commons license (e.g. NIN Ghosts I–IV) will not be stripped from youtube uploads. or use vimeo.
