LOL. Actually, that's the Port spending $12,000 to improve the road at the Sandbar. They're giving the road a raised profile so that water runs off the sides. I forget what else they're doing but it should make it a lot better and last a lot longer. Parking lot is closed for a few more days.

Na, but we were thinking some astro-turf would work well. There is a long term plan for the Sandbar but we have to see how things play out with our next access "expansion". More on that after our next CGKA meeting in May.

Take-out "donkey" out of the subject line and that's pretty-much what almost happened to me yesterday;
...Have been getting back into bike riding since January. Decided to just ride my beater 1994 GT mountain bike (with slicks and an updated seat) until figure-out what kind of road bike to get. So, yesterday was riding out between BZ Corner and Glenwood fairly fast...when outa' nowhere my seat post snapped at the interface with the seat. Was sitting with plenty of weight on the seat when my ass collapsed past (where the seat had been) and nearly hit the back tire. The razor sharp seat post remnant grazed my intimates as the seat part left a gash in my leg as the seat when whizzing past my underside. ...Was a seriously close call. To add insult to injury, ended-up beside the road where biting flies were abundant. As was sorting-out what-just-happened, a major leg munchdown occurred. ...With no cell coverage, took an hour to get a ride back to Glenwood. Almost lost my chicken finger. Memorable ride for sure.... Shocked
