How strong is the tidal influence on Sauvie? The flood starts at around 6:00 tongiht..how much flood does it take to reverse the surface currents....?

Also, the prediction is 6-10 this evening. What needs to happen before one should head out...All the western cloud cover burned off? Clouds in the east and not in the west? Or should I just look at the afternoon pressure gradients?

Seems like it rarely reverses aggressively, but it will slow or become stagnant. I think the greatest effect is usually in the middle of the inbound.
There are predictors that use Knapp Landing which is very close to the launch. The tide seems more painful when river flow is low like in Aug or Sept and a light wind boarding turns to light wind swimming.

Tides are definitely a factor, but the delay is long, I think around 6 hours, others have said longer like 8 hours.

Late in the year when flow is down you can get reverse currents going (where the wind and current are going the same direction.) Makes it a pain in the arse to ride and stay upwind unless you got tons of wind.
