Footage is from January 2010 , and my trip to Isabela, PR . Thanks to El Nino, the kiting was not the usual out of control ,monster wave riding, but I did get some great video with the sun and reef blazing!!!
Special thanks to Jim Cancil ( Wetstuff ) ,for the custom kite cam grip!! Enjoy !
The high res version on my web site, lemme know if this doesnt work for you please! click the pic!

Spleeft,

How do you keep the cam from spinning with the kite. I hate watching Go-pro video untill I saw this one. Great video!

Thanks for watching everyone!!,
Downstreem-Greyboy, one of my favs!
Slither-PR rocks , eh!
Rampage- I used a Vado HD cam with a custom grip that my bro made. Then i used After Effects to stabilize and rotate with a little tweeking in FCP. By the time I finished, I became quicker at the process, but it took lots of time at first.....!!
Chanson- Actually , most of this trip all we did was surf Shacks and Wildo, el Nino killed the wind....
Brd Rider- Ya those whales seem to show up every winter, last year my friend paddled his SUP out and caught some up close pics...
Again, thanks for the comments , I spent a few weeks, snowiting in Utah/Idaho this past winter, so my next movie will be from that footage, although I was doing more riding than shooting!!!!!

Windian, not a GoPro, but a Vado HD, with a custom grip from Wetstuff.com. The cam is like a pocket video camera with a pretty big display, not designed for action sports.

The guy at Wetstuff, Jim, is my bro, he designs and builds all kinds of stuff, I guess he has a killer sewing machine, because the grip is put together out of Velcro, neoprene, and clear plastic or vinyl , so its only splash proof. I heard the gopros where fogging up in hot weather.....
E mail him, and i'll link this thread to him, thanks for watching!!
Dean

Thanks Dean, I will look into this technology as a way of capturing kiteboarding sessions. Your PR video is a great example of riding waves and seeing the whole picture of how it happens. You were killing it!! I will email Jim and find out more on how to get my own.

Idea Idea Idea
