wanted to share this set of pics and maybe get some constructive feedback on the look, so please PM or write here about what you like don't like (use of texture, etc) if you have a minute...this is a quick and dirty edit as I have a small laptop with me and would rather be out and about, but hope to put a show together this summer in HR once I can get the pictures to match what was envisioned.

As for the route, I rented a MT Bike in Pokhara and biked/jeeped up to Jomsom and beyond that to Muktinath, a temple city and pilgrimage site for many people in Nepal and India...but their are many adventures up here on through to Tibet. You can easily take a few days on the downhill back to Pokhara, an amazing ride, maybe even EPIC? Wink but a lot of bikers take a small plane up to Jomsom to skip the grueling vertical.

Feel free to PM if you have questions - I saved some lodging and guide info from people I met and places stayed and sure a lot of gorge people know Nepal for its beauty and wonderful people so could chime in.

shop I rented bike from (a Trek hard tale with front suspension - $10/day without a guide) and some route ideas: http://www.tibetbiking.com/Trips/?TripCode=PFC-NB-015

Kathmandu - early one morning in Thamel - next 7 photos

Jomsom early morning commute

Trekker on the annapurna circuit via Kathmandu, near Muktinath

Sadhu listening to Norah Jones...handed Ipod back when Ice Cube came on....god was I sorry, but he just kept laughing Smile

Walking back to Jomsom from Muktinath

Supplies up to Everest Base Camp

Fresh juice direct from the orange trees at lunch...in Tatopani, an Eden like village with hot springs good for washing days of dirt off ya

Jomsom

Rest stop - childhood boredom on the way to Beni

jeep top bandit - self portrait

Wow Colby those pictures are simply beautiful. You really know how to capture the moment in your shots.

I really enjoy the added texture to the pics as well.....it really makes them pop without having that "bright in your face" look. Not that I know a thing about photography....just a lamens opinion.

Looks like your having an amazing winter! Hope to se eya on the water soon!

Awesome work Colby. Maybe a tad too much gray but love the textures. You have some stuff there that looks like National Geographic quality. Way to capture the people. My favorite is the guy listening to Norah Jones. The smile says it all, good music is a universal language. And I'd hand it back as well if Ice Cube came on!

Thanks for sharing.

Tony

AGREED .. you are a true artist w/ a lens.

First impression - I really like the lack of saturation and depth of focus - seems to suit the subject really well. Also like the almost 2D effect and old photo feel in a few. Refreshing to see something a little different w/ a classic feel - thanks for posting them.

Awesome! I think you should have saved the IPod picture to sell to Apple though.

The Pictures remind me of "Three Cups of Tea".

I can't wait to see more Colby.

great compositions, like the de-saturation? not sure about repeating the dust on negatives look on multiple frames. Whole set triggers the idea of finding box of photos that have been in an attic for 50 years and wanting to know the story.

Have to agree Apple should buy ipod guy photo - that one should be published

Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Five thumbs up!! My least favorite was the first pic, but all the rest were awesome, especially the Ipod pic. Like the texture you added to it as well. Makes it feel more third world-ish. Smile

wow...thank you for the encouragement and feedback. whatever impressions you have are well worth hearing

as for approaching apple with the ipod pic, probably need a release and waiver from said holy man, but this could also bring unimaginable karmic repercussions Wink

Nak! we'll have none of that man...seen plenty of beauties from you on here! Very Happy

Thats some nice stuff.
I like it.
I would like to see a few with less blur though, and did get a little distracted by seeing the repeated "dust" etc. layers on multiple images.
Of course, I don't know your gear or overall process, so take that with a grain of salt.
Anyway, you have a good eye, and obviously great locations.
Like the one with the child and helicopter taking off, and the donkeys, and the trekker with the cycle going by....
