Is it advisable to kiteboard on lakes if the beach and shore are either too small or filled with trees. I'm not sure the lake I have access too would be a good place to do it. Its seems like all the videos I've seen have been on the ocean.
Thanks |

Where there's a will, there's a kitemare waiting to happen!
Sounds like you have a virgin spot to claim! |

If there is good wind to be had on the water, then what really determines a good kiteboarding spot is the ease and safety of launching and landing of the kites. Really good spots have good open access with preferably a sand beach to do self launching and landing. Some lesser spots require someone to help you launch and land which makes it a hassle in that you can't just go by yourself and are dependent on help from a knowledgeable kite handler. But, it is still relatively safe to put up a kite.
Lastly, you have the deathtrap spots that are sketchy even with a helper. I guess it depends on how desperate you are to kite and what kind of blood and bones you are willing to risk to try and put a kite in the air!!!

Usually lakes have trees, wind shadows and docks....like Slither said it's a kitemare waiting to happen. If you got a boat....use it to get out in the middle....drift launch and have at it. Good luck. |
