South wind from the north jetty propelled us 6 iles down wind nicely.

With a 22 foot swell swell there was no shortage of playground opps with the mega natural driftwood sliders and chop jumpin.

No boat traffic as they closed the bar.

The coasties showed their concern for our safety and insured us they could'nt get their sled out so to think about our session..... thanks for the mind#&@^.

So when using amsteel used the colored.... when the color fades replace it..

The colored may not be as visible in the snow though.... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil wtf. Wink

glad to see winters still good for something.

Better yet, make double layer Amsteel. Use 1/8" Amsteel, feed it through itself to make 3/16" amsteel. The result is a very round, firm rope. If the outer layer fails, you still have the inner layer. As an added bonus, the rope will wear MUCH better. I've got nearly a year on my dual layer depower ropes with no sign of problems yet. Very Happy

Nak,

Great tip. You seem to have quite a bit of insight into working with Amsteel.

How about writing a booklet "Amsteel tips by Nak". Maybe an IPhone app on re-rigging kite gear with Amsteel.

No waY! I have been trying to find people who go out in southerlies in the winter - I only heard that the wind is too gusty (ha!) and waves too big (yeah right!). Which north jetty were you at? 22ft swell?!?! Sick!
