I was reading an ESPN story about the America's cup race. Looks like the US may get it back. I thought this was a pretty amazing fact though:

"The fastest, most technologically advanced boats in the 159-year history of the America's Cup, they hit approximately 22 knots in just 6 or 7 knots of wind."

US may win, but only with Australian talent.

I think the last few cups have proven that its all about technology now adays. Pretty much everyone participating is a great sailor, but even making a serious mistake at the start and having to restart, this boat came back and destroyed the competition. It doesn't sound like that was becasue of great sailing or they wouldn't have botched the start in the first place.

I raced A scows against buddy since I was a kid. I've crewed for him, and can say that I enjoy hearing him yell at his crew from another boat! For his age, he is still killing it!

Go Team USA!

Here's a great photo of buddy pulling a skier behind an E scow..

Congrats to your PNW brethren in Anacortes WA who built the beast.
I 've been getting up at the crack of beerthirty to follow this stuff this week, and have to say, it was worth it to see the race today.

Next start is Sunday at 1000 CET = 0100 gorge time.

It's a historic cup, you won't see on like this again.
All in there has probably been $4-500M put into it, by two really rich guys that don't like each other much...
The boats are amazing, especially the USA one.

Go Oracle! I sort of have to root for my employer. If Larry wins we all might get raises. I got to see that boat up close a few years ago, was pretty cool even though I don't know anything about sailing boats.

It may come down to who through more money at their boat.
But NZ sailer's have been kicking ass since San Diego. When you come from a country that doesn't have billions of dollars to drop on a boat or whatever, it comes down to talent, (and sailing other peoples boats)
It is kinda sad when money is the factor that wins the race
Still those are some sick cats

Even though NZ may not have had the money to throw at the race, they built one hell of a boat that took it away from the US. It was a revoluntionary design at the time and they stunned the world.
