This is mostly off-topic but is sort of related to kiting.

I am looking for an automatic cat feeder so i can go away for the weekend (and kite - see its a little related) and have my cat fed a specific amount at a specific time.

I am trying to find one that is reliable and that a cat cannot figure out.

I am researching and everything I read is bad. Cats figuring out how to get more out of the feeder, mechanisms are too light and get toppeled over, timers don't work well, doors don't open, amount is not dispensed correctly. So on and so forth.

Anyone have any luck with cat feeders for a smart, fat cat that will spend all day trying to get at more food?

You need to buy some mice and let them loose in you house while your gone.
This will give you cat something to do and give the him some excersize while your gone. You gotta make that little bugger work for it.

Wow snowy - thanks for showing me how to use google Laughing

In all seriousness - I prefer to use a forum where I know the people. There are always smart asses on forums no matter where you go and they will purposely steer you in the wrong direction - just cus they think its funny. Monkey is our resident smart ass - he likes telling all the french people to go to rooster rock when they show up on our forum Laughing

You could try one of the following: 1) set out a heaping bowl of food and ample water supply for your cats while your gone. I don't like to leave my cats unattended for more than 3 days. 2) Hire a neighbor's kid for $5 bucks a visit to feed, change out the water and clean out the cat box 3) Instead of using your ankle weights for kiteboarding, why don't you construct your own gravity feeding system using your ankle weights. If you weren't a lawyer you would have friends that could feed your cat.
