Thu Jan 07, 10 9:57 am I'm Daisy~Please ADOPT ME~I need a HOME! |

Hi all,
Well, as you know there are always strays here in LaVentana! Seems that one has found it's way to me and is very attached... I cannot take a baby (dog) home at this point, but we are taking care of her down here until she has a home.
We have named her Daisy! Not sure what type of dog she is, she looks like she has a little boxer and/or heeler in her... She is so extremely mellow, she is great around kites (actually walks around them), she sits and stays, and she just likes to hang around humans...
Brittany took her to the vet in LaPaz yesterday, and she is 35 days pregnant. We have a choice to let her go for the full-term and have puppies, then try to adopt those out and adopt her out, or she is scheduled for a spay next week and would then need to be adopted out with no puppies anymore. I know this sounds horrid, but this is what they do here in order to keep down the amount of animals that are abused and/or just left abandonded...
so, the choice is no puppies or puppies, and we will be leaving a day before she would give birth according to what the vet guessed on....
So, if there is enough interest before she goes in for her procedure for her and the puppies, then we could ship her to the U.S. as a pregnant pup to someone, or we'd wait until after the procedure and then just ship her to the U.S....
She would be going back to the U.S. with a health certificate, which would show that she has had her shots which include rabies. She will have frontline on her for the fleas, and she will be in a crate shipped to whomever...
I don't know the cost of shipping Daisy, I'd have to ask around, but the crate is 100.00, so there is that cost, and whatever it is to have her shipped home.... There may be a possibility of having her shipped with me on the flight that I'm already on at the end of the month, but she wouldn't be able to have her puppies if she came with me as she is to give birth the day after! Not sure if the airline would accept a dog with puppies, something else to check on.
Anyway, I'm posting some pictures and long story short, we need to get her adopted and if enough people are interested we will work to have her puppies and her adopted.... Please respond ASAP via a PM on NWKite.com, or even contact me via FaceBook (janet erjavec)......
Thanks so much in advance for reading this post, we hope that we can get her a home ASAP!

this was the quote:
"last call, we are back in the states and she is going to the pound tomorrowish..."
this from me:
Why would you bring a stray puppy home from Mexico only to drop it off at the pound? That's nice! Maybe you should take the time needed to find it a good home.

my ears were burning from 2275.39 miles away.
bring it home and keep it...bring it home give to a friend that keeps it great. Drop it off at the pound....BULLSHIT!

The dog has a good chance for adoption in Portland. The Oregon Humane Society does great things. One of my best friends is a volunteer and went to New Orleans with the Portland rescue team.

Hey there,
Been reading the comments, and I read the entire post that Moto submitted a link on... I do NOT intend to bring Daisy to the U.S. without a home and place her in a pound.... People who know me would know that I would NEVER ever do that! To me dogs are like kids, so that is NOT an option!
I'm looking to see if there is anyone who would like to adopt her just alone, or would be interested in her and a puppy or still adopting her alone and then also adopting out the puppies... Her appointment with the vet is on WEDNESDAY next week like January 14, so if she does not have a home or her puppies wouldn't have a home, she will be spayed. That is what they do down here to keep things under control...
I'm just looking for a home for her... If you all could pass the post and pictures along to everyone you know it would be greatly appreciated.....
Thanks so much,
Janet

Sun Jan 10, 10 6:20 pm UPDATE ON DAISY!!! STILL NEED A HOME:-( |
|
|
Hi all,
Just a quick update...
#1: She is scheduled for her "puppy abortion", which is a spay by the vet in LaPaz this coming Wednesday... Unless people come forward and want to adopt her puppies, we will have to keep the procedure scheduled.
#2: Through the PAWS program, which Angie from Baja Joe's runs, we were able to get a crate for Daisy to be shipped to someone via a plane, and also able to get most of the spay paid for and some of the medication as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH ANGIE, you are a life-saver and have tons of KARMA that will always go your way with your program...
#3: It costs about $100.00 for Daisy or any pup for that matter to be shipped via airplane. So, that would need to be covered by anyone who adopts her.
#4: If you would like to donate to the PAWS program, please contact Angie at Baja Joe's.... She takes care of tons of animals down here and is always helping to pay for vet bills, crates, food, medicines, you name it she does it all.... Any help is greatly appreciated!
Please help us get Daisy a home! She is an amazing baby!
Thanks,
Janet

Fri Jan 15, 10 10:34 am Quick Update as of 01-15-2010! |
|
|
Just wanted to provide a quick update on Daisy:
As of this past wednesday, she was spayed. Yes, they took her 7 puppies and euthanized them. It needed to be done as painful as it is to hear... Daisy is doing well. She is receiving all of her medications and well taken care of. However, she still needs a home... We are crate training her and she is loving her little home. So, Baja Joe's has helped out tremendously, paid almost the entire cost of the spay, provided a crate (it's a loaner), and now we just need a good home to get her to...
Please let us know if you'd like to adopt Daisy, she will have all of her shots and a health certificate to go home with....
Please PM me, post a reply or send me a message on FB...

Since the length of Pregnancy in the dog lasts approximately 63 days,
I think what you are saying is that she had an abortion, since you said she is about 35days pregnant....
still sucks...good luck finding a home for her...

Yes, tony that is what I was saying, I mentioned that in the original post, so didn't feel it needed to be mentioned again... It is a common thing here and something that people who run the non-profit assist with in order to control the amount of dogs who are abused, abandoned, and whatever else. I never even thought about it until it was mentioned to me and an appointment had been made.
If you have comments like this feel free to PM me, I'm trying to find a home for Daisy, not be chastised for it! I'm so tired of people being so damn rude to people trying to do good things!!!!!!!!!!!

Not trying to be rude or sound like a smart ass - just sucks about situations of our k-9 friends, at home and across the borders.
Tell you what - like myself, I know a shit load of dog lovers who are friends of mine.
I'll pass the word along to anyone who may sound interested.
If you don't mind - I'll give them your info - you never know.
