"Dakine pivoting hammerhead spreader bar" Plenty of hard crashes, never once had bruised ribs. Keeps the bar from pushing into your lower ribs.

this just looks too painful

its harder to unhook and hook in with that pivoting harness - it moves around on you.

I was gonna suggest the same.

To be fair, I have had issues landing blind where the spreader bar digs into my thigh, but that's just more incentive to stick the trick without being sloppy.

You beat me to it, not only does that look painful but it looks incredibly gay.

I use that spreader bar tho and I like it. You just gotta put a higher resistance band around the bar so it doesnt pivot as easily.

hey spike, just so you know in the pic of shawn he is wearing the dakine nitrous shorts which come nowhere near the ribs....even with big dangles Wink

Also, That pivot spreader bar has had some issues with the weld bustin apart.
(Dakine has amazing customer service so if it ever breaks you can replace it "no
questions asked".)

I had problems like that with my haness until I got the Mystic Warrior. The spreader down system (simply a second lower strap) entirely eliminates this problem and the bar or pad never flips up into you ribs.

Why this is not on every harness I have no idea.

The latest pyro has that strap too but I don't use it. Doing pushups and pullups on a regular basis can help to shape your upper body so that everything stays in place.

I have heard that theory before. Strong abs, less flubber and your harness will fit ya and wont ride up. Yeah yeah. Its true but most kiters I know eat and drink a bit. They aint eatin granola bars and using the ab cruncher with Chuck Norris in between sessions. Its more like a couple of bottles of Coke and a cold double quarter pounder sittin on the floor of the car.

So for us softer cushier folks its the spreader down system for the win!

Liquid Force harnesses had it last year and this year again, although personally I was happier without it. It does help a bit, but I'm unhooked most of the time anyway so I don't really care, and it sometimes keeps the hook pointed down more making it harder to unhook when powered.

You must be watching me fuel up for my session krazed.

I had a rib injury a long time ago that did not heal correctly so Dakine Nitrous shorts have been the ticket for me...plus they help eliminate the "board short/no board short" kook drama.
