People have snowkited about Timberline. Can probably search some posts on here. Problem is the weather sucks and if there's wind the snow is probably windblown and icy. If you're lucky enough to score a day when it doesn't suck up there then it could be fun. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

the spot I go to is about a mile west of timberline lodge, just above tree line. I have a pass so I usually ride the mile lift then ski to the left (west). If you keep a high traverse you can make it across little zigzag canyon and then you're there. Be careful crossing the canyon lower, possible Avy danger.
Check the timberline upper wind meter for conditions.
that's where one guy told me he goes but what i was wondering about that is how do you get out of there? |

| I can meet you up there sometime and show you the lowest exit to get back to Timberline. If you are on skis Sands canyon (the big one) ends up running into the Glade; which will take you to Government Camp. I think?, at least that is where I ended up last time I went too far down. As soon as there is enough snow I am going to explore White River canyon for a potential snow kite spot. Maybe someone who has done it with snowshoes would already know. |

| Just a heads up, Kiting within the timberline boundary area is not allowed. |

| kiting outside of timberine boundry is also illegal since it is adjacent to wilderness (so don't post pics). there are lots of ridable days up there, just be very careful and take full avalanche precautions. |

I emailed t line about this this is what I got from them.
Hi Austin,
Our biggest concern is the problems for kiters or our guests that could arise from an entanglement with our chairlifts. We haven’t seen any problems so far with the kiters that have been using the upper mountain since Palmer is usually closed in the winter. The upper mountain terrain that is out of our permit boundary is mostly in the wilderness, so that’s a forest service issue and I don’t know if they have a policy or not. I’m afraid the more kiting that goes on will bring the need for more regulations. |

| White River is just up hwy 35, about ten min from Govy. If the wind is good its a nice spot but it does get crowded on the weekends with randos doing rando stuff. It gets better as the season goes on and the river fills in too. |
