does anybody ride at Floras Lake this time of year? I was thinking to go maybe next week south of Oregon but wonder if it won't be a waste of time.

The Southern Oregon Kite Addicts (SOKA) crew will kite there - but they tell me its brutal cold in the winter. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

Actually this time of year most rivers are much colder than the pacific and they flow into lakes such as floras.
South can be done there but the whole experience will make you a hardened kiter.
Have fun

Hit up Sol-Flyer. He should be able to tell you where you can kite in Southern Oregon. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

thanks guys.
I'll be checking the forecasts and decide if it is worth or not. I might go to the North coast instead. |

| i agree with chooch.. also on a south wind it wont be good at all, only north wind is kite-able there im pretty sure. if i were you i would just hit up the coast line, maybe go south to gold beach or something. |

south winds are too gusty at Floras
gold beach IS known for the amount of sharks that like it there
the ocean is warmer than summer
find a location like WHiskey Run that does not have shore pound (where the waves break right on the beach) like the videos Arkay posted
go downwind ,stay inside ,do not try to go out
the bigger the seas the farther out they break ,usually
ride the reform |

Yes it can be far worse than the Pacific, the ocean is far warmer than lakes and rivers this time of year. _________________ The will to do springs from the knowledge you can |
