Heading down to La Ventana and checking the car reservation it looks like Budget has me in a Chevy Pop? Anyone ever rent one of these before? Looks like a hatchback; do the rear seats fold down? Enough room for a golf bag and large duffle?

Thanks

the trick to renting a small rig is to unpack your gear when you pick it up. everything will fit way easier then trying to shove big bags in, and yes straps will work great!

Thanks for the replies; So any advice regarding insurance?

Last year when we rented we had reserved a car for ~$25/day but when we got to the counter they said we had to take a mandatory $29 Collision-Damage Waver (CDW) insurance. That plus taxes ended up more than doubling the cost of the car rental. Did some research online but there seems to be confusion on this topic.

Anyone know is mandatory when renting at Los Cabos airport and if so do you have to take out the full insurance or is there some cheaper (just liability) coverage available that they just don't offer up freely?

You can get just liability from Dollar, and others I am sure, but make DAMN sure your credit card covers CDW. Most Gold/Platinum cards do, but you had better call your card.

Insurance in mexico is not really insurance.

If your in an accident, even if it is not your fault, DO NOT INVOLVE THE POLICIA unless you really, really need to.

Pay the person who you hit, (I know they hit you, but that is just a detail) typically 100 dollars will take care of a minor incident. And get the heck out of there.

Other scenario, You have Policia show up, now you have to pay the person what he feels will take care of the damage, and now you get to go to the police station to pay your fine, which was 250. They get there cut as well.

If your there before X-mas, you may get a driving while american ticket to help buy some presents.

What a f* up system! It seems that it would be in the best interest of Mexicans to run into as many foreigners as possible. A hundred bucks here for the back bumper yesterday, a hundred here for the front, tomorrow a side ding for another hundred.

I talk a lot of bull sh*t, but this takes the bulls horns, just pay the money , be
carefully, drive slower, dont give anyone a chance to run into you, and if you go ,dont do a david, 1> pay your insurance, dont drink and drive<always good advice> your life is whats important, take out a million dollar life insurance policy, and be sure to leave a <last-will-testament> with a trusted lawer, and stay a couple of weeks extra!!!am sure done right mexico is a dream, dont kite drunk, or tired, kiteing tired is bad news, kite only a couple hours a day and rest, dont be in a hurry, and if money is tight and your not an expert on cheap travle stay home, pay the cable bill, and watch your computer like i do, this is a serious post, as i was at one time, a insurance guy,and now live very poorly with no insurance in a f*cked up foriegh county that you will never know!! and check if your health insurance policy, public hospitals are a nightmare, and a private hospital is better, and public will want to send you to a private hospital anyway! this is all first hand experience <so just bow your head and say yes to everything> or stay home, and keep your 5mm wetsuit on hand, or buy a dry suit, and your health insurance is the most important, I know because I have none, kitting and no health insurance is suicide ,so you can all be at my funneral!!!take that NWkiters, the secret agent bars no holds, and keeps no friends!!!
