it was a cold day riding here in BC on hallow's eve, but the sun was shining and the wind was unusually strong, too strong for my 12m helix so i pulled out my old 10m vegas hoping i could at least get out for some board time. on my second pass i was barely hanging on and got blown into a friend's lines coming at me in the opposite direction. my leading edge got sliced and my kite ripped in half. after many apologies i re-launched his kite, gathered my gear and as much of my shattered ego as i could for the long walk back to shore. that's one of the many things i love about this sport, we keep on smiling even when things go wrong. it is the second time this kite has torn, and i am not about to try and salvage it. but keeping in the spirit of our environmentally friendly sport, i would like to try and re-use the material in some way.

so i post the question: what are your ideas for outdated/shredded kites? (potential business idea???)

i hope you are all enjoying some good wind, wherever you are.

Chris, it is about time you retired that kite anyways. You can get yourself a good deal on a used or new 9m rev. Brian

bailey, i know i know. i wasn't too upset about it, and i have a line on a 9m helix for this spring.

thanks for the replies, i checked out kitecycle.org and it is exactly what i was looking for.

i'ld be curious to know if anyone has done something creative with their old kites.
