also, i ve heard that there is kiting in mal pais, thermal, afternoons, sometimes, not consistant or strong though...

Yes just south of Bahia Salinas is Tamarindo about 2hrs south once week or so especailly in Jan to july the wind comes in side shore instead of typical strong offshore.
Also further south in Punterenas there is good side shore wind there in the afternoon as well. Ask me any questions about costa rica I travel and do tours and school in different locations, mainly in bahia salinas, is the main spot. check www.kiteboardingcostarica.com
